It is that time of year again for our Rotary Club Summer Outing This year Pam Jalette and David Graham has stepped up and taken the reins of our Club's fun, family event. It will be held on August 21, 2016 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Camp Ker-Anna 500 Reservoir Road, Cumberland, RI Don, Pam and David have put together some great ideas for a new menu for this year. The Club will providing the food. However, if anyone would like to bring desserts please feel free to do so. It is BYOB, but once again, please use your discretion as the venue is a boys and girls camp. I am sure Pam and David will have some great games and activities planned for this years event and as always the pool will be open with a lifeguard, the boats will be available for a cruise on the pond and fields will be available for your family to enjoy a day of friends, family and fellowship. Please register online ASAP so we can get a count for food. Thank you and I look forward to seeing you there. |

Guest Speaker - Chief Thomas F. Oates III Chief Oates was appointed to the Woonsocket Police Department on July 31, 2016. During his 42-year career in law enforcement, Chief Oates served as a member of the Smithfield Police Department and the Providence Police Department. Chief Oates served over 30 years with the Providence Police Department, serving in multiple capacities during his time in Providence and ultimately rose to the rank of Deputy Chief of Police. During his career Chief Oates received numerous commendations for excellent police work and for his devotion to his duties as a police officer. Chief Oates has a Bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Roger Williams University and has participated in numerous seminars and training programs in law enforcement. Chief Oates is a graduate of the Drug Enforcement Administration's Drug Unit Commanders Academy and is also a graduate of the FBI National Training Academy in Quantico, VA where he received his infamous "yellow brick." |
